Tummy Time Woes

Lillian is not a fan of "Tummy Time" that supposedly all babies love. She just screams and screams when put on her tummy. Her mommy repeatedly makes her spend lots of time on her tummy each day because it is important for her development. However Lillian still hates it. To add insult to injury during this tummy time session Lucy, our miniature long-haired dachshund, was so excited to have Lillian down at her level she tried to lick her face. Mommy was able to shoo Lucy away but she started licking Lillian's feet instead. Poor baby!

At Lillian's recent doctor visit we were concerned about her lack of enthusiasm for tummy time but sure enough right in front of the doctor she popped up and held up her head and showed off perfect tummy time skills. Good to know she can do it, she just doesn't want to. Later on that day we went to baby group and all the other babies happily hung out doing tummy time while Lillian screamed face first into her blanket and consoled herself by sticking her whole hand in her mouth and sucking like crazy. Even early on in life you have to do things you don't like to do!

Carving Pumpkins

We carved pumpkins this week to get ready for Halloween!!

Here is the Lawrence family with all of their pumpkins!

Lillian and Mommy are happy with how their pumpkins turned out.

Celebrating Lillian's Daddy's Birthday

Last week was Lillian's Daddy's birthday.
We did lots of fun things to celebrate the beginning of a great year!

First we went out to lunch on his birthday with his co-workers and the Wagoner side of the family.

Then Lillian helped daddy blow out the candles on his cake.

Later on in the week we went out to lunch with the lawrence side of the family.

Then we had a pizza and beer bash at our house with family and friends.

For entertainment we played with Star Wars toys.
Here is Coen showing Uncle Travis how to play.

The babies hung out together. Here is Lily and Eli getting in some quality time together.
They are only 2 months apart and will have so much fun growing up together.

Finally we all played rock band!!!

Lillian Loves The Simple Things In Life

Lillian loves being swaddled in her sleep sack! Even when she is wide awake she likes to be wrapped up and warm. Here she is just looking all around, probably staring at a light of some kind, another one of her favorite things!

Sometimes her sleep sack is so warm and inviting she tries to duck her head into it when we are holding her up. Luckily she can't do that when she is laying down!

Lillian likes the simple things in life: a good sleep sack, lots of food, lamps and lights of any kind, her wonderful vibrating bouncy chair and lots of love and cuddles!!

Sleeping Beauty

Lillian has recently been an amazing little sleeper! She slept between 6 to 7 hours at night 4 nights this week! She is so cute when she sleeps!

Although it may be a passing phase we try to encourage these long sleeping stretches by recreating the same situation every night. It is important to keep the little sleeping beauty happy! We have to make sure to wrap her in two blankets and then wrap her in a specific brand swaddling wrap. Then she needs a hat and she needs a pacifier or it just needs to be touching her lips so she knows its there. Sometimes it is harder for her to fall asleep. On those nights she likes to be sung to sleep. Her current favorites are Bob Marley and Pink Martini tunes.

Early Fall Escape

We decided to take a short walk on one of the last clear days before the rainy, wet fall days arrive. At this point we had spent most of our time inside the house, this was one of her first times walking out in the neighborhood. Here is Lillian in her stroller, she is so sleepy.

At the end of the walk around the neighborhood. What a tired girl!
